I decided to create a new partition to try a fresh gentoo install from my already existing gentoo install. After not being able to get paludis installed I decided to quit and be happy with what I've got. I tried to run gparted fron KDE's RUN dialogue (Alt-F2) as root user. I got the following:
Code: | The program 'su' is not found;
make sure your PATH is set correctly. |
Here are the results from 'echo $PATH':
Code: |
/sbin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin |
And from 'which su':
I looked in bin for su and it was represented by my filemanager with a quastion-mark icon, indicating that it was not recognized as a binary. The same applies for sudo.
Great. I then tried to re-format the old partition using fdisk. I got something like '/dev/sda can't be read'. I tried /dev/hda as well (even though I know it is wrong) and got the same.
I then tried to open a new konsole window and got this:
Code: | Konsole is unable to open a PTY (pseudo teletype). It is likely that this is due to an incorrect configuration of the PTY devices. Konsole needs to have read/write access to the PTY devices. |
Oh, and to top things off amarok can't play ANY media files. It just freezes as soon as I hit th play button.
Any suggestions or solutions would be greatly appreciated as this is my money-making machine.
Thanks. _________________ Paludis: Gentoo's Finest Package Manager. |

Does anyone know how I can regenerate or replace my /dev directory with one that works (with working symlinks)? It appears that chroot somehow deleted the files that /dev and /proc link to. _________________ Paludis: Gentoo's Finest Package Manager. |

I am having a similar issue. Have you been able to solve it? I have found this post on the issue.
Cheers! |
