I am getting an impression that I can install Gentoo using LiveCD that are not provided by Gentoo from other posts...
So... Do I need to use a LiveCD with amd64 kernel to install an amd64 Gentoo? Can I use a x86 LiveCD to install an amd64 stage3? |

If you're speaking about amd64 backward compatibility with x86, then it is compatible, it must be safe to use a regular x86 stage3 distribution. |

No, you need a CD that boots a 64bit kernel if you want to do a 64bit Gentoo installation. |

Yes, but you could use a 64-bit liveCD to install an x86 version of Gentoo. Just be sure to use "linux32 chroot" instead of "chroot".
So. . . no to your original question but yes to what Spy was saying. |
