Using the latest livecd, I boot perfectly well from my CD-RW, I enter
gentoo nousb
at the boot prompt, things scroll along eventually reporting
--- Mounting the CD
mount: Mounting /newroot/dev/cdroms/* /newroot/mnt/cdrom failed: No such file or
directory
--- CD not found
umount: /newroot Device or resource busy
BusyBox v0.60.5 (2003.04.10-02-38+0000) Built-in shell (ash)
Enter help for a list of built-in commands
sh: can't access tty: job control turned off
Can anyone tell me why it is that the CD is not being recognized?

just something to try, try not using the 'nousb' setting. See if it still does that. At the boot screen, just press enter. _________________ "Another one bites the dust"

xrn0id,
Interestingly, using
gentoo nousb
had been suggested to me as a solution to the problem because hitting Enter had given precisely the same negative output. Thanks for the thought behind the suggestion, however. Any other ideas?
