|
|
Hello.
I wanted to try out Picasa 2.7 Beta on my Gentoo Linux ~x86 system. So I went to Picasa and downloaded the 2.7 Beta (3736) RPM. After that, I did:
Code: | cd /
rpm2cpio < picasa-2.7.3736-7.i386.rpm | cpio -id |
When I now try to run it, by executing /opt/picasa/bin/picasa, it just hangs there. Ie., the application starts and the splash screen shows but the splash screen doesn't go away and I cannot click on anything - nothing happens.
You can find a screenshot at http://picasaweb.google.ch/Fam.Skwar/Screenshots/photo#5143020740590645730.
Any ideas about what might be broken there on my side?
I know about Bug #200568, but that bug doesn't give any hints; and as noted there, I also tried the IMO clumsy way of using rpm2targz - no luck
Best regards,
Alexander |

If you haven't solved the problem by now, how about using 'strace' to capture a system call trace, e.g.
Code: | strace -f -o /tmp/TRACE /opt/picasa/bin/picasa |
