So, I have a Compaq Presario C500. Plugging in the headphones does not mute the speakers (this seems to be a well-known ALSA bug). Mixer software can raise and lower the master or pcm, but that affects both the speakers and the headphones.
I've seen a whole lot (about 12) of threads on this problem and the only answers I've seen are:
1. Use a kernel > 2.6.20
2. Use alsa-lib > 1.0.12
3. Use your mixer to bring the speakers up and the headphones down.
Problem is:
1. I'm using kernel 2.6.22
2. I'm using alsa 1.0.14a-r1
3. No mixer program I've tried has ever seen anything more than Master, PCM, and a mic.
What can I do to make ALSA let me set the volume of my speaker and headphones to different levels? _________________ vi? *snicker* it doesn't even include a mail reader... |
