compizfusion+kde+ati

Hey everybody
I know that the net is full of 1939319 threads regarding compiz-fusion but i feel like i have just tried ANYTHING.
this is a dual core amd 3800+ system running gentoo 2.6.22-r8
the latest kde
it's an ati X1900 card running the latest ati-drivers (that are supposed to support AIGLX)
I have installed compiz-fusion according to the instructions in WIKI http://gentoo.wiki.com/compiz-fusion
I start the application with "compiz-start".
it says "aiglx detected, starting KDE decorator"
and then, the taskbars of my windows dissapear and... that's it
animations are enabled in CCSM but they don't appear.
I'd appreciate your help

try to install fusion-icon, then use fusion-icon to start compiz...
