Enemy Territory has been released by those nice people at Activision and id Software. Get it now!!
A great game, free and ported to linux. It just doesn't get much better then this.
I really hope they fixed this bug. |

This might not be the correct forum for this, but:
Man, I LOOOOVE bittorrent. Unfortunately I cant get over 500k dl most times since I "only" got a 10mb line and others are dl'ing from me:)
Man, I LOOOOVE id + splashdamage, this game is GREAT, and it is commercial quality, which is sorely lacking in linux games:) |

Well thats good news, I can't wait to try it. I just installed bittorrent, and rather then waiting in line at file planet, I'm downloading at about 100kbs. Go bittorrent and id, go! |

Hrm ... 45 minute wait at fileplanet to begin download or 45 minutes until bittorrent download finishes. Not a very hard choice! |

I'm only getting 30k/sec, my line usually maxes out at about 60k/sec, but hey, its better than waiting in line on some dodgy FTP site for an hour, constantly hitting retry.
BitTorrent is just great imo, its really revoloutionised downloading of large files, and as long as your on the ball and download recently posted BitTorrents, you can pick up whole albums, movies, and game patches really quick. Its useless if you want to download something that was released 6 months ago, but that doesn't really happen very often for me. I wonder how hard it would be to implement it as a KPart or similar so I can use it straight away in Konqueror?
The game itself also looks awesome, kind of BF1942, but its gonna work perfectly under Linux! YAY! (Shame I spent 30 quid on BF1942 only for it to be sitting in dust in the corner now Loved that game, just can't be bothered to boot back into windows) |

Do you mean something other than file associations? In Firebird I just click on the link and executes btdownloadgui.py with that torrent. Surely you can go that with Konq. |

Is anyone having problems with the setup program? Something like this:
Code: |
./setup.sh: line 278: 3265 Segmentation fault "$setup" "$@" 2>>$NULL
The setup program seems to have failed on x86/glibc-2.1
See http://zerowing.idsoftware.com/linux/ for troubleshooting
|
This is on glibc-2.3.2
Anyone? |

Sorry in advance for asking bt questions here, but this is my first go at using it.
I emerged bittorrent and when I click on the .torrent link in phoenix, the btdownloadgui.py app can successfully open and start downloading.
My question is this. Since I hate having to use a browser to download things, how can I initiate the btdownload from the CLI?
I tried:
Code: |
btdownloadgui.py http://zerowing.idsoftware.com/torrents/et-linux-2.55.x86.run.torrent
|
But I get the following:
Quote: |
problem getting response info - [Errno 2] No such file or directory ...
|
Can someone give me some tips? |

Right-click and save as... You have to run the torrent locally. |

once I have it saved locally, i usually run screen then use btdownloadcurses.py, works well, and even if X crashes, i'm still seeding the torrent. |

Just use btdownloadcurses.py. Here is how to start a download when the .torrent file is online:
Code: | btdownloadcurses.py --max_upload_rate XX --url YY
|
upload rate is optional, but if you have regular DSL/Cable it is best to set it 2 kb below your maximum or else you will have a hard time browsing. The url field is powerful and does not have to be http. An http url would be like this:
Code: | btdownloadcurses.py --url http://zerowing.idsoftware.com/torrents/et-linux-2.55.x86.run.torrent
|
If you have the torrent file saved locally (which I recommend because the tracker might get overloaded):
Code: |
btdownloadcurses.py --url file:///home/agent/et-linux-2.55.x86.run.torrent
|
Notice the three "/" in file:///. This is because file:// tells the program that it is a local file instead of http:// and the third / comes from it being your root directory as in /home/agent/blahblah.
In fact, if you wish you do not even have to emerge any dependencies by using USE="-X" which will disable X support. May as well if you do not need the silly gui and are willing to do it in CLI. |

I got this error when I tried to run the installer remotely from work via SSH. The actual error is that there is no $DISPLAY variable. That is, you need to run this from within X windows. |
