Hi, When I start Gentoo Linux, I recieve an error, "modprobe: Can't open dependencies file /lib/modules/2.4.21-ppc-r1/modules.dep (no such file or director), is this error serious and if so how can I fix it, my knowledge of Linux is not that great, could be a Hardware error if so - my machine is a Beige G3 Desktop 233, ATI Radeon 7000 64MB DDR, 80GB ATA HD 20GB SCSI HD, DVD Rom Drive.
Thanks

Any ideas on how to remove these error messages if you've disabled modules on the system?
I've removed modules completely, so depmod -a complains that the kernel doesnt support modules. It seems to me that if I remove modules from all runlevels, the modules.dep error should go away, but it doesn't. I think the checkfs init script may depend on modules, which I don't think it should (yeah i hate modules for some reason) |

I'd like to get rid of these messages too. I installed some fresh machines with gs-sources and now these messages appear. |
