Hallo,
ich wollte mein lahmes Laptop, das einen recht alten Softwarestand hatte, aktualisieren.
Dabei hat 'Emerge' angemeckert, das Python 2.3.5 die Aktualisierung auf ein neues Python blockiert.
Also habe ich ein 'emerge --unmerge python' ausgeführt, was ich wohl besser nicht hätte tun sollen ...
Jetzt geht nämlich gar kein emerge mehr, da Python fehlt ...
Ich habe Zugriff auf das Notebook via ssh, ftp, nfs. Daher denke ich, das es möglich sein müsste ein Python aus einem Binärpaket einzuspielen. Nur wo bekomme ich ein Python in der Verision 2.3.5 für einen Pentium 3 her?
Oder gibt es eine andere Möglichkeit das System zu retten, ohne eine komplette Neuinstallation machen zu müssen?

Von 2005 oder so? Dann ist eine Neuinstallation eh die sinvollere Variante. Ich würde dir empfehlen auf einem anderen Rechner regelmäßig (mindestens all drei Monate, dazu wöchentlich diejenigen Ebuilds, die Sicherheitslücken beinhalten) Binärpakete für den Laptop zu bauen oder auf eine Binärdistribution umzusteigen.
Dein Problem ist nicht so sehr die Python-Version, sondern die Kompatibilität mit python-updater. Kompatible 2.3.x-rY-Ebuilds sind im repository.
