This is a weird one or then again, maybe not...
I have a dell 6400 laptop, and when ever I insert an audio cd or dvd, or actually what ever I throw at it, nothing happens (dbus & hal is running). /dev doesn't give me anything that resembles anything usefull (cdrom, dvd, hdc... my harddrive is sda)... well, I won't pull that one too far
Any help is preciated
thanks, gmtongar _________________ "Did you understand the music, Yoko. Or was it all in vain" - r.waters

nope... no hda... hdb, hdc, hdd or anything I could give a good guess on.

In your kernel .config file, do you have
Code: | CONFIG_BLK_DEV_SR=y |
or
Code: | CONFIG_BLK_DEV_SR=m |
?
Now that libata is the default ide layer choice, your cdrom drive will appear as /dev/sr0 if SCSI CDROM is enabled. |
