I dont know what I did wrong, but somehow if I go to control center in KDE I cannot adjust the keyboard settings (the keyboard setting thing is just not there) |

You don't give us many clues such as the version of KDE you are using.
Here is a guess though: did you look in the "Regional & Accessibility" section of the Control Center? |

Sorry.
Its kde-3.5.7 and in there I remember that there were setting where I could choose keyboard layout and so on. I have set the right layout in xorg.conf, but kde seems to change this somehow and I cannot switch it off |

yes.
I have 5 options there:
(sorry I have to translate to english )
regional&language (its about commas, dots and numbers etc)
speech output (did I really install this ?? )
now button combinations? (khotkeys)
another keyboard option where i set how to switch desktops etc
accessibility (slow buttons, sticky buttons etc)
but nowhere where I can adjust keyboard layout. (or am I blind maybe?) |

That's strange. I also use version 3.5.7 and these are the choices I have there:- Accessibility
- Country/Region & Language
- Input Actions
- Keyboard Layout
- Keyboard Shortcuts
