UGGHH - I have been haveing issues with linux-2.6.23-gentoo-r3 on a Dell Inspiron 630m system. My fist issue was related to Grub, (this whole SATA, PATA thing is confusing to a newbie...) and I finally got a working Grub. I dual boot with Windows XP which was existing on this system. I repartitioned the drive to install Gentoo and now just as I thought I finally figured it out, I now get unable to determine your tty name when I try to log in as root.
I used the live CD but used a terminal for the install as this was the only way to install Gentoo from that disk...
What did I do wrong? I think it might be related to the fact that the system was complaining about /bin/bash at the very end of my install, but I don't recall doing anything different than what was listed in the Gentoo installer doc's...
Anyways, if anyone can help I would certainly appreciate it.
Thanks! |
