I've searched for 2 days and I need to know the exact flags for the make.conf when installing on a dual 2.4 Xeon system.

Thanks!

Don't know off hand, but here is what I would do....

1 - Do research on the i-net about the Xeon processor to look at the achitectture of the processor core to compare it to other Intel processors
2 - check out freehackers for suggested Intel processor GCC make flags
3 - modify make.conf
4 - recompile programs

Links :

http://www.sandpile.org/

And the best link of all:

In a dual Xeon 2.4 system i set up, i used CFLAGS="-march pentium3 -O3 -pipe".

A bit conservative, but it's for a server

Also I set MAKEOPTS="-j3" to use paralel makes for the builds that uses it.

The USE flags are more a function of the stuff you'll use the machine for.
You can use ufed or euse to help you on that one.

Is the warning in the make.conf about -march=pentium4 still true? This is how it reads in my make.conf:

# PENTIUM4 will generate invalid SSE2 instructions; use 'pentium3' instead. #
