workaround:
tux michal # echo "=app-pda/libopensync-0.35" >> /etc/portage/package.mask
tux michal # emerge -1 libopensync
tux michal # emerge -1 kitchensync
tux michal # rm /etc/portage/package.mask
tux michal # emerge -uDN world

Step by step, it should solve your problem. Of course don't delete your /etc/portage/package.mask if there's some more packages in it. :)

Tao

/etc/portage/package.mask is a directory not a file. I don't understand what I should be echoing too. I tired /usr/portage/profile/package.mask but emerge -1 libopensync still only emerges 0.22.

Strange...

0.22 doesn't make problems when you want to emerge kitchensync (more info: https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=202974). You only have to:

to update or create a /etc/portage/package.mask file, so the actual version will be previous one, that doesn't create problems when emerging kitchensync:
tux michal # echo "=app-pda/libopensync-0.35" >> /etc/portage/package.mask

to downgrade to actual libopensync version without registering it in the world:
tux michal # emerge -1 libopensync

to install kitchensync without registering it in the world (i suspect that you are trying to install kdepim-meta :)):
tux michal # emerge -1 kitchensync

to unmask the latest version of libopensync and make it visible in system (if your /etc/portage/package.mask file is masking more packages then skip this and just edit it to unmask libopensync):
tux michal # rm /etc/portage/package.mask

to update your packages to latest ones:
tux michal # emerge -uDN world

Hope it will erase your last doubts.

Regards,
Tao

[quote="guinness.stout"]Where is the fix? Been waiting like a week now.[/quote]

OpenSync changed their API between versions 0.22 and 0.30. 0.3x is not recommended for production use by the OpenSync maintainers, and as such, the KDE folks have not changed KitchenSync to use the new API. Once OpenSync's new API is stabilized, I would expect the KDE folks to officially add support for it, but until then, you might as well just mask opensync 0.3x (if you want to use KitchenSync). If you want to run opensync 0.3x, which is experimental/development, you're gonna have to expect things to break and live with it.

I had the same problem, downgrading libopensync to .22 fixes the issue

Little update from me. After masking latest libopensync and emerging kitchensync by:
Code:
tux michal # echo "=app-pda/libopensync-0.35" >> /etc/portage/package.mask && emerge kitchensync

do not update libopensync to 0.35 as it causes revdep-rebuild to reemerge kitchensync, which of course fails. Simply do not unmask libopensync yet.

Tao
