I am about to reinstall after a long hard install of Gentoo. I guess I went in unprepared thinking that installing on a laptop would be as easy as installing on my desktop. I spent many late nights reading the help on PCMCIA and eventually gave up because it frustrated me!!! And...I went back to redhat. Then to my dismay I realized how cool the portage system is, and how lame RPM is and even installing APT-GET it still blows major bungholes.
Needless to say, I want my Gentoo, and I am leaving the country in 1 week and 3 days, and will need support for my wireless card as well as my SMC 8040TX NIC. Any suggestions are welcome.
A little info:
I install from a stage 1 process. Meaning if there is a recommended kernel to use for laptops please suggest that.
2. Any PCMCIA tutorial that works is a good one. I have looked at the one on PCMCI-CS that is here in the forums but it didnt work out for me.
Thanks for the help. _________________ There are only 10 types of people in this world. Those that understand Binary and those that do not. |
