|
|
Hi, I'd like thank everyone for their contributions to the forums, I've had quite a bit of luck from searches here when pondering functions with Gentoo.
Now to my question:
I started a thread about tricking Gentoo into thinking applications were emerged that were "rolled" on my own from source. The answer given, emerge inject. It's exactly what I was looking for, however it appears to not be working as I'd like..
When I emerge inject mysql, and then I:
emerge -p snort
I still get mysql listed (and as N series package meaning it's New) and it tries to download/install it.
I'd like to know if I'm missing something, or if there is something specific I should do to force gentoo to realize I've installed MySQL (or any app) by hand and use that as a dependency satisfied.
Thanks |

When injecting you need to use 'gategory/package-version' format. For example, if I wanted mysql-4.0.13-r3 to be injeceted, I would do this:
Code: | # emerge -i dev-db/mysql-4.0.13-r3 |
