I have a system that requires old Nvidia drivers. After upgrading the kernel to 2.6.23-r3 when I emerged nvidia-drivers all of them are masked because the ebuild for the old driver is no longer on my system. Running module-rebuild rebuild says that there are no ebuilds to satisfy any of the packages it would emerge. Where and how do I get the old ebuilds I need? Here is the output of module-rebuild rebuild:

Code:
goliath ~ # module-rebuild rebuild
** Preparing to merge modules:
** Packages which I will emerge are:
        =x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers-1.0.8762-r1
        =x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers-1.0.8774
        =x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers-1.0.9639
5 4 3 2 1

emerge: there are no ebuilds to satisfy "=x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers-1.0.8762-r1".
There are no ebuilds on my system for any of these 3 packages.

Moved from Installing Gentoo to Kernel & Hardware.
Not about getting gentoo installed, so moved here.

Hi sheepdog,
same situtaion here. You might want to try something like:
Code:
emerge -1 nvidia-drivers

It will emerge nvidia-drivers-1.0.9639 which should be the one you need.
Anyhow, I haven't yet succeed to get this workls as I get the following error during the emerging process :
Code:
NVIDIA: left KBUILD.
nvidia.ko failed to build!
make[1]: *** [module] Erreur 1
make: *** [module] Erreur 2
 *
 * ERROR: x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers-1.0.9639 failed.

 *                              || die "Unable to make ${BUILD_FIXES} ${BUILD_PARAMS} ${BUILD_TARGETS}."
 *  The die message:
 *   Unable to make  IGNORE_CC_MISMATCH=yes V=1 SYSSRC=/usr/src/linux SYSOUT=/usr/src/linux clean module.
 *
 * If you need support, post the topmost build error, and the call stack if relevant.
 * A complete build log is located at '/var/tmp/portage/x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers-1.0.9639/temp/build.log'.

Hope this can help you anyway

I believe the problem you describe has been filed as bug # 196257. There is a patch available. Haven't tried it myself yet.
