Hi there,
I recently bought this Toshiba Satellitle laptop (model P205D-S7454) And would like to install it gentoo, or any Linux that works with it ( I prefered Gentoo but you tell me after I state my problem). The thing is that before trying to install it I wanted to use the live cd to see if there was any problem and.. there is. When gentoo live loads from the cd and attempts to load X, there seems to be some problems with the Ati graphics card (Ati Radeon X1200), althought in the boot verbose mode it says it detects it. The errors are as follows:
LoadModule: "GLcore"
(II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/libGLcore.so
dlopen: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/libGLcore.so: undefined symbol: __glXActiveScreens //I don't know if this part is important, but
//these others appear as well:
(EE) Failed to load /usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/libGLcore.so
(II) UnloadModule: "GLcore"
(EE) Failed to load module "GLcore" (loader failed, 7)
(EE) Failed to load module "ati" (module does not exist, 0)
Well, any help on how to solve this and get X running etc will be much appreciated.. if the problem is the laptop and linux can't be installed for the moment I'll appreciate if anyone tells me...
Thanks in advance,
Joel
P.S. I copied the entire Xorg.0.log from the terminal to the PSP so I got it if anyone would like me to post some other .. or the full content itself ;)
ps. #2: I also have a doubt... The current live Gentoo iso is some Mb's more than the 700Mb of the cd in which I burned it. Is there the possibility that maybe some imp. things weren't written? I doubt it but... just out of curiosity ;) |
