I bought a new apple keyboard, and I'm playing with Xmodmap. So I want to set F1 and F2 to change the external LCD brightness. I know how to to assign events through xmodmap and make events trigger commands through ~/.fluxbox/keys, but I don't know the proper commandline tool which would make that come true. Could you help me?

Is emerge -s pommed is what you're looking for? This Talks a bit about something that sounds similar.

Nope. I do have pommed. Pommed allows me to change the inbuilt LCD brightness through the inbuilt keyboard. I wanna change the brightness of a second, external LCD monitor (plugged by the DVI connector) through the external USB keyboard.

Edit: xgamma doesn't work with my LCD displays. :?
