well, i'm trying to get my USB printer to work and i followed the gentoo printing doc. i emerged the hpijs driver and i started cups. then i ran:
foomatic-configure -s cups -p HP-DeskJet_825C -c file:/dev/usb/lp0 -n Deskjet -d hpijs
i logged into cups through my browser and entered the information up to the point where it asks me for "Model/Driver for Deskjet", but my printer driver isn't even listed. i clicked continue anyway and went to print a test page. well, the printer started printing (or so i thought), but when it was done i found out that no ink was even applied to the paper. in other words, the page came out entirely blank. i went back into windows and printed a test document and it worked fine so it's not an issue with my printer cartridge. could anyone shed some light on this problem? thanks.
EDIT: nevermind lol. i guess the light in my room was too low for me to realize that it wasn't printing in black, but instead a deep shade of blue while in windows. so after running to the supermarket and picking up a black ink cartridge, all is well. |
