TravelMate 270 Sound Issues

I currently have an Acer TravelMate 270 running gentoo.
Everything works fine except for the headphone jack.
Plugging headphones into the jack is supposed to switch audio output from the speakers to the headphones.
Sound through speakers works fine.
When I plug headphones in half way, sound comes out the speakers and headphones.
When I plug the headphones in all the way, sound doesn't come out anywhere.
Everything works fine in Winders XP.

Audio controller is listed as an Acer SIS7012.
I am using the intel8x0 alsa driver.

Any ideas?
It's kinda annoying to not be able to use my headphones.
