hi can any one tell me how to get my logitech quickcam zoom camera working with gentoo.
i think they use the same driver as the phillips webcams and installed the module for the phillips webcam and usb audio in my kernal and have compiled it.
but is there any software i need to run (eg xawtv) - i tried modprobe and did not bring up any thing
can somebody pls help as i havent a clue (incase you had'nt noticed)

You also need to enable Video4Linux in the kernel.
Did you compile the webcam driver into the kernel, or compile it as a module? In the latter case you'll need to load the module with modprobe (in your case I think it would be "modprobe philips").
After that you should be able to use the camera. Try xawtv; if it doesn't automatically find your camera try to point it specifically to the correct device in /dev, which should be something like /dev/video0 or /dev/v4l/video0 _________________ Man must shape his tools lest they shape him. |
