Hi Ho!
Ich habe ein Problem mit meinen IDE-Festplatten.
Und zwar schaltet sich jedesmal wenn ich auf die Platten zugreife der DMA-Modus wieder aus.
z.B. wollte ich heute morgen mal wieder eine Runde ETQW zocken und es hat sage und schreibe !!!6Minuten!!! gedauert bis die Karte fertig geladen war.
Der Grund dafür war das sich der DMA-Modus der Festplatten einfach mal so deaktiviert hat.
hdparm habe ich schon mit rc-uptdate add hdparm boot automatisch aktiviert und in der Config-Datei hda_args="-d1" und hdb_args="-d1" gesetzt.
Hat jemand eine Idee woran das liegen könnte, daß sich der DMA-Modus selbstständig deaktiviert? |

Steht dazu etwas im syslog? Du könntest versuchen, Deinem hdparm-Aufruf die Option -k hinzuzufügen:
| Code: | -k Get/set the keep_settings_over_reset flag for the drive. When this flag is set, the driver will preserve the -dmu options
over a soft reset, (as done during the error recovery sequence). This flag defaults to off, to prevent drive reset loops
which could be caused by combinations of -dmu settings. The -k flag should therefore only be set after one has achieved con‐
fidence in correct system operation with a chosen set of configuration settings. In practice, all that is typically necessary
to test a configuration (prior to using -k) is to verify that the drive can be read/written, and that no error logs (kernel
messages) are generated in the process (look in /var/adm/messages on most systems). |

| Es gibt Platten, die schalten nach z.B. einem read-error DMA ab. Möglicherweise ist so ein read-error in einem der Sektoren, auf die beim Booten zugegriffen wird (oder in einem der zugehörigen "read-ahead" Sektoren). |

Genau - und da bei einigen Fehlern ein "soft reset" durchgeführt wird mein Tipp mit der -k Option. Bin gespannt, ob das hilft.
