Got the above message when running Cinelerra as root. I managed to capture about 30 or so frames before it dies (about 1 sec).

I'm using V4L and PinnancleTV mpeg2 capture card.

I can monitor the video fine , but when I start to record , the above happens.

Any ideas please??

I know I'm stating the obvious here but it sounds like the encoding that is being applied to the raw input data is failing because you don't have permission to execute the plugin script. Have you checked the permission?

Yeah , thangs Puggy. I realy have no idea except the obvious too. But these are plugins as you say , and there are around 75 others , all with the same permission -rw-r--r-- and others , for example AVI , seem to be fine.

What bugs me is that I'm capturing encoded MPEG2 from card (H/W encoding) so I don't know how to turn this encoding off in Cinelerra - it seems to insist on a plugin - what I need is "PassThru" or something.

Anyway , MPEG2 is what I need as I'm DVDing the video clips ... daughter's birthday and all that!!

What I thought this was , was some kind of shell (note the "sh: line 1") bit , trying to invoke the plugin as an exe , hence the permission denied - there is no executable flag!!!

But why? From where?

I just installed cinelerra to see what its like and to see if I can help you out.

Yep. I tried Quicktime for Linux - arbitary/random selection of mine - and this seemed to work fine.

But its MPEG2 I need , as I wish to record to DVD and playback on any commercial DVD player.

So you installed it Puggy , and got the same as me .... looks like a bug , so I'll report it back to the authors. Just hard to imagine such a popular format is/has not been reported buggy ... don't you think.
