|
|
I've just installed a new Gentoo system, and I'm trying to sort some things out...
I'm having a weird problem; I have setup my PCTV TV card, xawtv works ok, sound and all, but when I reboot my computer, during the shutdown process, there's a pink window on the screen, just where xawtv was running.
The thing is, that when the computer restarts, the same window is still there, not while booting, but as soon as X starts. It's even there when KDE is running. The only way to get rid of it, is to open xawtv again and close it. (But it's there through reboots).
Now, does anyone have a clue why it this happening? This does not occur with redhat, running on the same machine.
My setup is gentoo 2.4.20-r5, with nvidia drivers 4363.
Any hints are welcome,
thanks. |

seeing it at bootime is most probably caused by your framebuffer.
it's still cached on the gfx card memory. this however is normal. 8]
but you lost me when it still is diplayed in X. _________________ Markus Nigbur |

Actually, it's not there when the comuter boots (using the nvidia framebuffer). It appears when X is started (+ on the nvidia logo).
Does anyone know how I can downgrade my nvidia drivers? |

ah!
try the vesa framebuffer driver.
it's unstable to use nvidia framebuffer + nvidia kernel module _________________ Markus Nigbur |

In xawtv, you may also want to try using grabdisplay instead of overlay. |
