Just forget about 4.0.* branch... it`s dead. 4.1.* tree is the real treat ... wait till the end of July _________________ "Dear Enemy: may the Lord hate you and all your kind, may you be turned orange in hue, and may your head fall off at an awkward moment."

Does anybody know whether Konqueror in KDE 4.1 will have Webkit or still KHTML? Is the transition to webkit actually planned? |

from what i know khtml = webkit optimized on qt, but i might be mistaken.

In KDE 4.1 you will be able to switch between the rendering engines and choose either one as default if you install the webkit-kpart package. However, while webkit itself is very robust and a good rendering engines, this kpart is still far from finished in its current state and webkit in Konqueror is almost unusable.
Webkit was forked some time ago from KHTML by Apple, so right now there pretty different. _________________ "The hunt is sweeter then the kill."

Hi, hopefully some good Samaritan can help me, because I am stuck..
I read that some people were able to compile kde4.0.5 with the newer qt libs .. qt-4.4 I think(not in front of the damaged system at the moment)
well I uninstalled the old qt libs as someone mentions but after that I am still getting from cmake things like cant find QtGui etc.. I have check in /etc/env.d and I have a file with the qt4 path.. I have check /etc/ld.so.conf and I also have the new q4 path there..
why cmake is not finding my new qt libs? _________________ http://www.dailyradical.org

Not to fan the flames here, but *damn* Vista looks a *helluva* lot like KDE 4. Hrm...
I just got the new Dell, dumped Vista the moment it landed on my desk.

not really.. KDE4 development started long time a go and qt4 as well...
nothing stops anyone from looking into any free software project I actually find annoying how office2007 looks so similar to qt libraries... _________________ http://www.dailyradical.org

Vista development started in 2001, KDE was barely into version 2 back then. Granted, Vista that was in the works then was eventually scrapped, and then started over, but still.... KDE4 was naught but a thought no matter which way you look at the Vista development timetable. |

I tried a 4.1 beta2 liveCD, but Konsole is even there still in the same condition as in 4.0.x. That is, I cant 'Send input to all sessions' for one thing. Anybody knows if this will be fixed for the release? |

I'd say theres about a 99% chance of that konsole thing being fixed by release (Its working right now on svn) . its under edit -> copy input to... now. Its probabily fixed in rc 1 (not quite out yet). |

OK thanks but found a thread in "unspported software" where a kdesvn overlay was mentioned. This is sufficient for me. |

Yes it does exist, but you won't get KDE 4.1 RC1 from it. You will get the SVN snapshot of the "moment" when you install it (directly from the KDE team code repositories). This repository is already switched on the KDE 4.2 development (I have 4.1.60 here) and is never very stable. I recommand you to wait a bit more and get KDE 4.1 when it enters Portage |

Oh thanks for this information. I'll wait until 4.1 is in the official portage tree. A SVN built isn't that what I want. |
