Upgrading jdk-1.5 to jdk-1.6[SOLVED]

Hi All,

I am trying to upgrade the jdk-1.5 to jdk-1.6 in my system.
I executed following commands:

# emerge virtual/jdk

# java-config --list-available-vms

While executing java-config --list-available-vms command i got following result.

The following VMs are available for generation-2:
*) Sun JDK 1.5.0.11 [sun-jdk-1.5]

So i cannot able to proceed further. If anybody knows how to upgrade the
jdk-1.5 to jdk-1.6 on gentoo linux, please help me to proceed.

I executed "emerge -a =sun-jdk-1.6*" , i got following result

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

- dev-java/sun-jdk-1.6.0-r2 (masked by: ~x86 keyword)
- dev-java/sun-jdk-1.6.0-r1 (masked by: ~x86 keyword)
- dev-java/sun-jdk-1.6.0.01 (masked by: ~x86 keyword)

that should not be...

run `emerge --sync`, then try again.
your portage tree is outdated. As a thumb rule, try to sync you portage tree once a week. and do some update with `emerge -aDu world` or at least `emerge -aDu system`

I followed your instruction and upgraded my system jdk-1.5 to jdk-1.6 successfully.
