Try to rename ~/.mozilla and start firefox again - maybe something is wrong with the profile. _________________ Never argue with an idiot. He brings you down to his level, then beats you with experience.

For this entry
Code: | Preference Name Status Type Value
------------------------------------------------------------------------
network.dns.disableIPv6 default boolean false | Double-click it and you should get
Code: | Preference Name Status Type Value
------------------------------------------------------------------------
network.dns.disableIPv6 user set boolean true |
and your internet should then be working... _________________ Gentoo is the stick-shift of Linux.

Well no worries.
Your problem is specific to Firefox, and does not deal more broadly with network setup, so finding an answer should be easy enough.
Check out this thread relating to yours:
very wierd firefox problem [SOLVED]
Apparently there is a conflict between Firefox and the KDE control center network configuration utility.
The utility modifies the formatting of the /etc/hosts file.
Now Konqueror can still read the file just fine, but Firefox cannot.
So open the file in a text-editor and fix the formatting as the thread instructs.
...and of course try not to use the KDE control center network configuration utility. _________________ Gentoo is the stick-shift of Linux.

EURIKA!!!!!!!!!!!
It was the hosts file not sure what tampered with it as this is a fresh install and ive not tried to setup the network yet.
But least we know what causes this dam thing to flop thanks guys for all the help. |
