game through wine wants virtual memory ?!

Can't find anything on the forums for this one, I'm trying to run Triple Play 99, an older DirectX (DX5 era) game.

Installs fine, but on running it complains it requires 16MB virtual memory to run. Perhaps someone more familiar with wine can explain to me why I need any vm to run this game when I have 4gb anyway?

More importantly than why, though, is how do I get this thing to run? Suggestions?
