I have old system, was built on 2005.
I need make upgrade glibc to 2.6.1, but I can't, because receive error.

Please give us more of the error (about 30-40 lines above your quote). Also the output of emerge --info might be useful.

So you should at first try to update gcc. What is strange: If glibc needs a newer gcc, it should be a dependency in the ebuild...

You could try to update to gcc-3.4.6-r2 first, then install the latest stable glibc, then the latest stable gcc.
