Hi there...
I have installed gentoo from stage 1 on a machine I built specifically for the task. To put it bluntly, I'm now hooked! Because of this I really want to get rid of win2000pro from my main rig and install gentoo on that machine but I was hoping that some of you guys would have had more experience with some of the hardware I have and maybe able to help me out.
The main thing before switching, would be the Creative Audigy Platinum. I know the sound works fine as I had mandrake on that machine. But, it's the front panel that I really need and looking around, all I see are references to alsa. Nobody mentions the actual drive unit with all the connections. Does anyone have a working audigy platinum in use with gentoo/other distro?
I really would like the other machine with linux, but audio recording is something I do and unfortunately I cannot get CoolEditPro2 to work under WINE, as with others. It just doesn't work after the install [does anyone know any decent ALTs for linux that does multi session recording?]
I know the current issues with ATI, I'm looking forwards to trying to get the 9700pro to work under gentoo, if I switch. I will presume my mobo chipset is supported, the Via KT400. Apart from the audigy, there's nothing else I'm concerned about really.
Oh, Prmise raid should work aswell shouldn't it? Built into the mobo. I need this because of the number of HDs I have.
