Hello 2 All, sorry for my bad English. I have some problem with uvesafb-2.6.23-r3 & X800 XL. I have emerge latest gentoo-sources, apply the uvesafb-2.6.23-r3 patch, reemerge klibc & v86d, configure kernel with
Code:
CONFIG_BLK_DEV_INITRD=y
CONFIG_INITRAMFS_SOURCE="/usr/share/v86d/initramfs"
CONFIG_INITRAMFS_ROOT_UID=0
CONFIG_INITRAMFS_ROOT_GID=0
CONFIG_MTRR=y
CONFIG_CONNECTOR=y
CONFIG_FB=y
# CONFIG_FB_DDC is not set
CONFIG_FB_UVESA=y
CONFIG_FB_VESA=y
# CONFIG_FB_RADEON is not set
CONFIG_VGA_CONSOLE=y
CONFIG_FRAMEBUFFER_CONSOLE=y
CONFIG_VIDEO_SELECT=y
CONFIG_FRAMEBUFFER_CONSOLE_DETECT_PRIMARY=y

and boot with
Code:
video=uvesafb:1024x768-32@100,mtrr,ywrap
as described in Wiki and get the error
Code:
mode switch failed (eax=0x34f, err=0)
.
Applying this patch don't solve the situation - resolution at boot has been reset to 720x400 70Hz and appearing some artefacts.

Thx for help!

try setting an mtrr mode for instance mine looks like

video=uvesabf:mtrr:3,ywrap,1024x768-32@60.

Also, do you have the v86d running and in your initrd file? if not, then the instructions are at
http://dev.gentoo.org/~spock/projects/uvesafb/

Oh, and uvesafb is already patched into the gentoo sources as of 2.6.21 and later I think.
