hi
i've got a problem with my graphic gard and linux. I have the latest stable kernel (2.4.21) xfree 4.3 and the newest nvidia drivers. With the geforce 2 i got no probs, but yet when i boot gentoo framebuffer doesn't work. I can start X with the nvidia drivers. But if i kill X or switch with alt + F1 to a console the monitor switch black and the pc doesn't react.
Has somebody this graphic card and can me help?

P.S. The same configuration works with a geforce2 without probs. |

I haven't found out , but I avoid this problem by disabling all framebuffers support in th kernel.
Additionally I tried other version of the nvidia-gxl and nvidia-kernel packages - but the current releases 1.0.4363-r2 seems to work with my X (but without the fb ).
BTW if you can use your framebuffer at least once: you're good! I can't use fb even once. It will always crash at once. Independet on the distribution : no redhat, no suse, no knoppix, no gentoo. Always the same: first fb action --> system crash.
So I decided that I don't really need fb - at least until clever people publish a solution _________________ Athlon 64X2 4200+, MSI K8N SLI (nForce4 chipset), 2x512MB DIMM, MSI GeForce 6800 GT |
