Running pure reiser4 system. 4 partitions, 3 of them lzo1 including root, 64bit, latest zen. No issues. Well, some months ago lzo1 partitions when checked by fsck would show a lot of warnings about statistics but not anymore.
BTW could we get the latest patches in zen? http://marc.info/?l=reiserfs-devel&m=119965401017339&w=2
They don't apply cleanly on top of zen...thanks!

Well, this means that something is wrong here, what is the last version of that driver? Is newer than the version on portage? Because my driver is the newest on portage, and you can see the result

That was the problem. I created an ebuild on my local overlay for the newest version of the driver, and it works.

Porque no usas el driver gspca que ya viene con el kernel? Asi te ahorras el tener que recompilarlo cada vez que cambias de kernel ni tener que preocuparte por nuevas versiones. |

Everybody: Don't use master-dev-rt... it's ULTRA-VERY-EXPERIMENTAL and it doesn't have all features yet. |

hi, i've got a dell xps with an integrated webcam ( id: 05a9:2640 ) which should work with the uvc drivers.
If I compile them as modules the kernel boots fine, but when it reaches "letting udev process events" it sits there for a (long) while (about 2-3 mins) and then it goes on normally. if I do an "htop" I can see that there's a modprobe process still running and it uses 100% of the cpu.
I've also tried to compile the driver into the kernel but the problem isn't gone.. it just hangs when loading the kernel and not udev.
if i don't compile the driver the problem is gone, so i'm pretty sure the problem is there.
lemme know if you need logs or something else to debug the issue

Yes, you are right. I am using ~amd64 arch. From your post I understand toshiba_smi does not work on 64 bit kernel
I can swear once upon a time my lcd brightness were adjustable by fn + some f keys. Don' know which kernel I lost that.

Of course there will be different optimization targets. But can you explain the meaning of the different parameters, their relationship and inter-dependancy?
How to achieve the best performance and how to test it e.g. for audio purposes?
Hope this will start some documentation. The best system is not the best if it is not understood how to tune or to operate.

@Inventore1 : Quite some time back, I had already pointed out that the linux-uvc driver in kernel has problems. (It takes a lot of time to modprobe.) Don't use the linux-uvc in zen-sources, use linux-uvc from portage - it works fine.
@Darksidex25 : Do you really need svgalib? Especially the kernel helper module svgalib_helper.ko. If not, just compile with "no-helper" use flag, i.e., 'USE="no-helper" emerge svgalib'. (With this it wont compile the kernel module, and so its in fact not required to emerge it everytime after recompiling kernel at all.)
