Hi!
Today I got my new internet connection: ADSL (from AON in Austria, if anybody is interested). I've got an Alcatel Speedtouch 546 Modem, and I use pppd and pptp with the pppoatm module to connect to my provider. Everything works fine so far - as long as I do not try to access google or youtube. Whenever I try to go to those sites, the modem hangs up and restarts. I don't really know, why it only happens with those sites, as this forum for instance works fine.
That is what the debug of pppd says after going to google.at:

Can you tell me what software version is running on your modem? |

I did a workaround...
the old version was 5. something, and now I updated to 7.4.1.7
and I configured it now as a Multi User router, so the Server in the background has nothing to do with the connection, and I used DHCP to forward the official IP Adress to the server...
works for now, would still be interested how that could happen... |

btw. for people having similar problems
the workaround for some reason only worked for one day, but not the single user variant works perfectly - what helped was an upgrade to the most current firmware
so before you dump several hours - start with an firmware upgrade |

Hi!
The Single User variant stopped working perfectly - once a day the modem stops forwarding http traffic for some reason (even though ping, icq and msn still works, I can't visit homepages any more). Sometimes it even stops forwarding any internet traffic - the only solution that works is restarting the modem, which is somehow annoying. I suspect it to be a firmware problem, but as there is no newer firmware currently, I'm stuck with it... |
