I have a laptop with an ipw3945 wireless adapter. I move around a lot, and sometimes I'm not actually within range of a network. The adapter will continue to seek, however. Aside from the annoying blinking light, when I'm on battery power...I notice a decrease in battery time for obvious reasons. Generally, when I know I won't get on a network, I'll go to the prompt and shutdown the card. This gets annoying.

Is there a way to set the wifi to automatically shut itself down if it doesn't find connection within a defined timeframe?

Thx, APFinancial

does your laptop have one of those hardware switches? you can always turn off the wireless that way unless you know you're going to use it...

cheers
