Hello,

I've installed the iwlwifi drivers for my ipw3945 in my Thinkpad T61, and I can modprobe ipw3945 alright. Problem is, iwconfig doesn't see any hardware with wireless extensions! I've got eth0, lo, and sit0. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Chip

Take a look at dmesg to see if any there were any errors when you loaded the module.

It seems you don't use the good module... iwlwifi creates the iwl3945 module, not ipw3945...

You can use the ipw3945 packages OR iwlwifi. I suggest iwlwifi the second one, as it is meant to be a replacement for ipw3945.

What happens if you modprobe iwl3945 ? You should get interfaces such as wmaster0 and wlan0.

That did it! iwl3945 is the way to go.

Thanks very much!
