I want to set up 3d acceleration on my younger brother's machine. He has a voodoo 2 and wants glide capabilities.

Portage has no way of installing voodoo2 3d accel, only voodoo 3+. I tried to install glide from source, but it would not compile. I managed to get glide going by installing some rpms I found by searching, however I didn't mange to get mesa to use it.

I'm having difficulties getting my voodoo 2 to work with xfree...

I have installed some rpm containing the right drivers and I also placed a link in /usr/X11R6/lib/modules to the libglide2x.so file, added a "Device" entry in XF86Config with the option "driver" set to "glide" but it doesn't seem like xfree is capable of finding the driver though. The card is found when I run lspci so the hardware is no problem.

I tried running xfree with the switch -configure but it still won't find the driver.

Do I have to recompile xfree for some weird reason?
If anyone could post a working XF86Config file I may be able to sort things out... thanks in advance...

For this machine I just picked up a geforce2 at staples as a replacement. I gave up.
