Hello,
I am afraid the acpi changes from /proc to /sys filesystem in kernel-2.6.24 has broken the gnome-power-manager support in gnome-2.20? Is there a away to reanable g-p-m, without using the deprecated /proc-emulation?

Isn't the reason the depreciated inteface is still there so that applications like gnome-power-manager while continue to work correctly until upstream fixes it?

Yes, of cource. But it is deprecated ;)
Deprecated things are ugly. If there is no solution, I have to live with it or actived the deprecated-interface.
