Is there a way to minimize Gentoo to be used on a Synchronet BBS?

I have a box set aside for rebuilding my ol' board and I can't wait to start putting it together.

How small do you want it? If size is your biggest concern, something like Damn Small Linux or Linux From Scratch might be better choices.
