when i'm running gnome applications, i have access to a font called 'Monospace', but when i'm running regular X applications (ex. aterm or xfontsel), i can't access 'Monospace' at all. i can't even see that it exists. how can i use Monospace in regular X applications? _________________ "We can't run from who we are, our destiny chooses us."

Ok.. I *think* you need to add the font path to your XFconfig file. Here's a sample from mine:
Code: | /etc/X11/XF86config
FontPath "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/truetype/"
FontPath "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/freefont/"
FontPath "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/local/"
FontPath "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc/"
FontPath "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/75dpi/:unscaled"
FontPath "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/100dpi/:unscaled"
FontPath "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/Speedo/"
FontPath "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/Type1/"
FontPath "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/75dpi/"
FontPath "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/100dpi/" |
That should at least get you started. There are some excellent font posts in the forums, esp. in the "Documentation, Tricks & Tips" topic. Search there... |

well, the problem is, i can't even find what directory 'monospace' is in. i did a 'locate onospace' (to account for capital/lowercase letters) and all i found were some xml files describing the font or something. is 'monospace' buried in some gtk2 library file somewhere? _________________ "We can't run from who we are, our destiny chooses us."
