intro
I got asus p5k-se mobo, which includes ICH chips. Not so many CDs are able to boot, but i do have one customized [from one gentoo user] that can boot.During the installation following the handbook on amd64, up to the point of chroot to the base oss goes fine. Now when i get to the new enviroment, I dont have the IA32 emulation support?...which blocks the whole installation to go forward, by not compilling most important packages like grub en gcc?I wanted to try lilo in order to get a booted system, but lilo is not advised on amd64.
Does anyone have any idea to get gentoo running on this machine?..or anybody who have succeeded...to get gentoo on this type of mobo.
N:B
I have a left a thread b4, but I showed it to one gentoo user who was trying to help and advised me to start a new thread as the first one is not clear...but incase you want to take a look on the previos thread with the errors how the compiler failes refer to this topic:https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-643136.html

I just installed Gentoo 2007.0 amd64 on a P5K-SE mobo with not much hassle. I had to download a modified livecd to support the SATA controller of this motherboard with a more recent kernel. I then used the stage3 and latest portage snapshot available on any mirror and followed the amd64 handbook with no problem. I installed Grub. What is your exact problem?
[EDIT]
I used this LiveCD:

In my case also one modified livecd is capable to boot, and my installation goes fine but inside the chrooted enviroment gcc cant compile some important packages like grub [getting like cant compile executable c or c ++ somethin].Missing the i32 emulation support, I believe missing from the livecd...
Thanks for the link to livecd...im downloading and go try again.I post the results later _________________ ~x86
