i've tried to install:
-warcraft iii
-age of empires ii
-half-life
but inevitably, when using winex3 (version 3.0) the installers freeze...they load up real nice and pretty, everything seems to run real smooth, then it's fucked. anybody know what's up/how to fix it? _________________ I'm against picketing, but I don't know how to show it. |

That also happens to me when trying to install starcraft! Appears the installer menu, but when it's going to copy files, just 'hangs'! I think it's because I use NT native libraries instead of 9x ones... So I gotta install win9x if I want it to work. |

Just a guess but are you using the free version or the subscription version? I believe the free version is exactly the same except it does not support the copyright features on most games thus making the free version almost useless. _________________ "Well fine, go ahead and miss church, and when you die and go to hell you can answer to SATAN!"

For what I've read, people using wine (the original one) have made it to install and play starcraft. The web is plenty of those Stacraft-linux howtos... The matter is that the libraries loaded must not be NT native like happens with WinXP... the should be win9x. |

In WineX in general you should be able to play these games without ANY Windows DLLs (only Wine). Have you tried using Point2Play which will install it's custom version of Wine in your home directory? Warcraft III and Half-Life work fine for me. Age of Kings won't work at all in anything earlier than WineX 3.1, it might sorta work in 3.1, but not very well. |

From my understanding, microsoft games (e.g. Age Of Empires II) are not very well supported in wine. |

The lack of support is because their installers have never been supported. Just recently a degree of support for the installers has been added, but since nobody ever actually had the games install until now, the support for the games themselves is very lousy. |
