I have some issues with my setup of syslog-ng. I got the configuration files from the gentoo documentation that was posted here http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/security/security-handbook.xml?part=1&chap=3. Now the problem that I have is that all the log files under /var/log/ are owned by root. As a consequence of this if I run gnome-system-log to view the logs of my computer I can not view any of my system logs as they are owned by root. I do not want to run gnome-sytem-log as root and given the fact that syslog-ng does not have to run as root I can not understand what the problem here is.
If somebody would be able to help me, I would be really glad.
Thanks
