I just recently installed got going under the ~amd64 tree and started using -march=native with gcc-4.2.2 to build everything. This morning I ran into a problem when i went to 'emerge xorg-x11' when it came up to building gcc-3.6.6-r1 for a dependency it complains about not knowing what '-march=native' is. Was wondering if there is any other workaround atm other than stoping the emerge, changing make.conf to the old style, letting it build, stopping emerge again, then setting it back to 'native'? Thanks.

Schmokin,
gcc-3.3 will not build for lots of reasons but you don't need it.
You have a binary package, probably java, built with gcc-3.3.6 and it needs one of its libraries at runtime.
Code: | emerge sys-libs/libstdc++-v3 | to satisfy the dependency then redo your original emerge. It will contine from the package after gcc-3.3. _________________ Regards,

Thanks NeddySeagoon. It was actually links the console web browser that I was using to post the original message that was depending on gcc-3.3.6-r1. I followed your instructions and 'emerge xorg-x11' continued perfectly. Not sure how to edit topics in links so in a few hours I will edit for solved. |
