no sount for .rm movies

I have emerged the realplayer, however I don't get any sound on any .rm file.... The player seems just to be muted, no error message no nothing. I also had this problem on fedora and opensuse. But since I only used both distros for a short time I ignored it. Is this a common problem? Have I missed anything?

RealPlayer doesn't support all of their own codecs. Try mplayer.

mplayer can't play anything... I'll come back with the error in a couple of mins.

Hmmm... strangely enough mplayer doesn't play anything, whilst the mplayer frontend for gtk (along with mplayer itself) plays almost everything... Now I'm recompiling it with the real use flag and I'll come back later if I still can't get any proper output.
