For some reason when emerging a large package, the wget command is taking a large percentage of cpu time. (Large as in, 40-65% cpu) Anyone elese seen this? I dont remember this happening on my previous Gentoo box. The wget version is 1.8.2-r2. I am going to try and recompile it now. Thanks for the help.

i haven't noticed any spike in my system resources when using portage or wget by itself. maybe running systrace during the spike can help pinpoint what the problem is/was.
anyone else experience this problem? _________________ katana root # cat /proc/sys/kernel/osrelease

Thanks for the response. I think I figured out the problem. I am using an Nforce mobo and the onboard nic. I went back to the older drivers and the problems seem to be corrected.
Thanks for the help.
