... and I was wondering, why does "df -h" list 199MB used before I've ever accessed it? (/dev/sdd1 - USB2) If I do "ls" on the drive, it shows nothing at all, so what's the 199MB?
Just out of curiousity more than anything (though I suspect something may be wrong with the drive).
Code: | martin@samus ~ $ df -h
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/sda3 147G 4.3G 135G 4% /
udev 10M 820K 9.2M 9% /dev
/dev/sdb1 367G 205G 144G 59% /home
shm 502M 0 502M 0% /dev/shm
/dev/sdh1 688G 246G 407G 38% /home/martin/Media/USB6
/dev/sde1 466G 431G 36G 93% /home/martin/Media/USB3
/dev/sdc1 688G 32G 622G 5% /home/martin/Media/USB1
/dev/sdd1 459G 199M 435G 1% /home/martin/Media/USB2

Well, I know ReiserFS uses approx 32MB when you mount the FS the first time.
Even happens with my 250GB HDD. Maybe a 500GB takes a little more.
What's your FS? |

sorry, I meant to post that ... It's extended 3 (when I bought the drive, it was FAT32). _________________ Intel i7 3820 - 16GB Corsair DDR3 - GeForce GTX 660 2GB - SBLive - 13TB - Gentoo - KDE4 |
