Hi there,
I'm having some strange behaviour with my new GF FX 5200. I'm upgrading from a GF 2 MX.
The problem is that I get no display if the nvidia kernel module isn't inserted. I mean no POST or grub or ctl-alt-f1 - nada. But XFree works!!
The problem begain when I booted into windows and installed the new drivers. (Forgot to uninstall the old ones) Of course, windows wanted me to reboot, at which point everything went black. As linux is the first in my grub list, eventually it booted up. So basically, the first thing I see when I boot up my PC is the NVidia logo, then X. What gives?? Is the card in some weird mode which my crap monitor can't handle?
Any help would be great!
[EDIT]Damn that's embarassing. OK seems like a complete power cycle did it. I should have mentioned it's a dual head card. [/EDIT] |
