Error: StartX - cannot find Mouse / keyboard modules

Just installed gentoo using the guide, amd64 arch.

an attempt to start Xserver yeilds:

Failed to load module "mouse" (module does not exist, 0)
Failed to load module "kbd" (module does not exist, 0)

Im using a G15 keyboard and a Logitech MX1000 laser mouse. Both USB.

grep /dev/input/mouse0 and ../mice when i jiggle the mouse i see nothing, so im assuming my mouse isnt working :/

Any advice would be great.

Did you set the INPUT_DEVICES variable in /etc/make.conf correctly?

You could also have a look at http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/xorg-config.xml.
